Distance: 28.5 km
Time:  8 hours 45 minutes (including 1 hour 15 minutes for the stops)
Vertical distance: 1700 m uphill;  1210 m downhill

Started at Chiasso station at 8h40;  3 hours to Monte Bisbino (1325 m), entirely in Italy.  Very hot.  Begged some extra water at Alpe Loasa where they also offered us some coffee.  Finally arrived at the road above Muggio, where Nona picked us up.  Supper at Grotto Loverciano in Castel San Pietro.

Night: Hotel Milano, Mendrisio

    Salut Rupert, le Val Muggio est splendide et en montant au dernier village, on peut passer près d’un petit musée des contrebandiers et à un resto sympa en Italie. Merci de nous permettre de nous remémorer ce “paese” très “ticinese”. Bravo et merci.
    Bonne route ! La météo sera maussade jusqu’à mercredi avec des averses et quelques orages selon l’Osservatorio Ticinese de Locarno-Monti. Amitiés S+A
