Wir verließen die Bertol-Hütte um 5 Uhr früh und stiegen auf die Tête Blanche mit anderen Gruppen welche die „Haute Route“ von Chamonix nach Zermatt machten. Es hatte in der Nacht gefroren und das Gehen mit den Steigeisen war eine echte Freude. So sehr, daß wir ohne Halt weiter gegangen sind und bald auf den Moränen des Zmuttgletschers unterhalb der Schönbielhütte waren. Diese Moränen waren mühsam, aber wir hatten sie schlußendlich hinter uns und befanden uns auf Wegen nach Zmutt und Zermatt, beide von uns mit ziemlich wunden Füßen. Dave stieg in einen Zug nach Martigny, um seinen Camper vom Eingang des Grand St-Bernard Tunnels zu holen, während ich einen angenehmen Nachmittag und Abend verbrachte mit Sally und Neil, die mit dem Zug nach Zermatt gekommen sind.

Rupert, you seem to be making steady progress, shame about the Dent d’Heren, but I guess you can always come back another day. The main thing is to enjoy the adventure and experience! Wish you well on the next stage of the trip across the big 4000’s, take care.
Ps Envious of you being out in the high mountains right now, I am just back home from my hip operation and adjusting to a limited excercise routine on flat lands of Cambridgeshire.
