To the hospital 8

September 9th

This morning I was no better, so the doctor sent me to the hospital in Samedan for more sophisticated checks.  They will keep me for the night.

I’m just back in Edinburgh from the AWC: we all wish you well, though none of us knew this a.m. about your, I trust, v. brief hospitalization.

To be brief, the Rhinogs were a treat, with excellent leadership from Nigel H, & generally good weather; 4 peaks completed. 25-odd pitched up. 5 of us went on to Hawes, & found Kathy K. & sons there; weather continued fine, & we did Pen-y-Ghent (for Esther & Charlotte Walford), followed by Baugh Fell, something of ‘terra incognita’, which was quite an adventure, off-trail, though highest point only 678m, probably lower than anything you’ve encountered apart possibly from the lakes.

Bad news thru’ Val Scott: Stuart Leslie’s in intensive care in hospital with colonic complications & semi-kidney failure.

Get well soonest, & look forward to more blogs. Going to be a race against time now, isn’t it? – with the autumn snows, &c.

    Cheers,
    David

Sorry to hear of your health problem, Rupert. Now there is only one priority: getting better as soon as possible! But perhaps also the moment to ask whether or not you should give yourself a break and restart next June with fully charged batteries? Whatever you do next, I encourage and admire you. Urs

Poor you dad. I hope you get home soon and can get lots of rest, food and get your strength back. Thinking of you from Basel. Xxx nat

Oh gosh. That sounds bad. But I have just looked at the geo tracking map (had not for a long time) and am amazed how far you have got. It’s incredible. I think it’s ok to take a break until you feel strong enough. Big big hugs nat
